About Mostar

Nestled in the heart of Herzegovina, Mostar is a city of extraordinary beauty and historical significance. Named after the bridge keepers (mostari) who guarded the Stari Most (Old Bridge) over the Neretva River, the city has been a cultural and economic center of the region for centuries.

The iconic Stari Most, originally built in the 16th century during the Ottoman period, stands as a testament to the city's rich heritage. After being destroyed in the 1990s conflict, it was meticulously reconstructed and reopened in 2004, symbolizing unity and reconciliation.

Today, Mostar is a vibrant destination where visitors can explore charming cobblestone streets, visit historic mosques and churches, enjoy traditional cuisine, and witness the famous bridge diving tradition that has been practiced for generations.
